Meal Planning
Why do I consider this part of self care? Well, two reasons reallyโฆ1. It helps minimize time spent cooking in the kitchen and 2, if you have you meal planning set out for the week, it will set you up for success in eating more nutritional food and not grabbing for something (probably less healthy) last minute. I like to shop either on a Sunday or a Monday for my groceries for the week. With my meal plan in hand, this also helps me not over spend and buy unnecessary items. I never buy in bulk and I try to buy all produce fresh and enough to last for the week. Often times, I buy vegetables that are already shredded, diced, etc, to help cut down again on that prep time and I know the quantities are perfect for my family of four. I do buy mostly organic vegetables and fruit and definitely refer to the Dirty Dozen and the Clean Fifteen from EWG. Once home from grocery shopping, I will wash all fruit and produce and prep accordingly (cut, dice, etc) and put them away in glass containers so that when I am ready to use them in whatever I am cooking, they are ready and I donโt have to waste further time in the kitchen doing all the prep. This is time saving and to me having that extra time is a gift. This is self care to me being able to not stress about what we are having each night, knowing that I have what is needed and it will be quick to pull it all together. This allows me extra time with my family or extra time to do one or two more things for work. And time freedom is really important, especially in this mad rush life we all lead. As always, I leave you today with love and gratitude and if you have any questions, please drop me a message.
