Today my self care routine took the form of the Lagree Method workout followed by an Akashic Records meditation. I spoke quite a bit yesterday about meditation, so todayโs focus of self care is going to be around movement/workingout.
Movement is one of the most important gifts we can give ourselves. Our bodies are made to move and movement not only increases energy, it reduces stress and calms the mind and body. Research shows that exercise may stimulate the production brain chemicals norepinephrine and dopamine, which energize and elevate mood. And I know those of you that workout, have felt that โRunnerโs Highโ or just felt so good after a workout.
Movement also strengthens your muscles, which improves stability, balance and coordination. And, lets not forget that it helps build stronger denser bones.
Did you know that walking 30 – 40 minutes three times a week can help regrow the part of the brain linked to cognitive decline in older adults? Now more than ever with all of us having restrictions because of Corona, and all the sitting we are doing at our computers (and added stress of trying to get work done while at home with kids) we really need to make an effort to take walks. Use it as a break to refresh and regroup.
If we keep fit, keep moving, we obviously will improve our heart health too – something that is overlooked.
When it comes to more challenging movement of our bodies, where our heart rate increases, it improves our cardiorespiratory endurance. Remember, you do not have to perform high intensity moves to get your heart rate up – Yoga, Lagree and some other methods will still challenge you but at a more comfortable pace. This is where you need to honor your body and move it according to your physical abilities.
As always, I leave you today with love and gratitude and if you have any questions, please drop me a message. Peace out
